Chapter 1 How to use these notes

Complex Numbers appear in many areas of science and have many useful applications.

These notes have been created as a summary of the key concepts in the area of complex numbers and provide relevant problems to practice the techniques described. As such, they are meant to supplement (not replace) your course notes in whatever discipline you are studying.

NOTE: In some subjects the imaginary number \(i\) is denoted \(j\) to avoid confusion with other symbols, notably electrical current. The letter \(i\) is used throughout this document.
